Service of Remembrance for V.J. Day
On August 12th 2011 our Minister, Reverend Ian Banks, Padre to the local branch of the Burma Star Association, conducted a Service of Remembrance to mark the 66th Anniversary of VJ Day. The service took place in the dining hall of the Skegness Academy. Among the dignitaries in attendance was the Town Mayor, Councillor Steve Kirk, and Mayoress, Mrs Cath Kirk, the Skegness Town Clerk, Mr Steve Larner, President of the Burma Star Midlands Area, Mr Steve Kitchen, and representatives and members from other Ex-Service organisations. The Skegness Silver band provided the music for this occasion. After the service, members and friends enjoyed a lunch in the County Hotel.
