Harvest Thanksgiving
On September 27 we celebrated and gave thanks for the Harvest at both our morning meeting in Skegness and evening meeting in Sibsey.
In Skegness, members of our fellowship brought along gifts of produce which were then distributed to our neighbours living in flats across the road from the County Hotel. During the meeting Ian, Diane, Paula and Sandra presented a drama entitled 'Fruits of our Labour' representing respectively a can of beans, an orange, a tin of soup and an apple. The message of the sketch was that we should offer to God the best that we have.
Later in the meeting our lay leader in Skegness, Pete Newsome, talked to us about the gifts of music, happiness and sharing using illustrations from his own personal testimony and from scripture. This was a first for Pete and we give thanks to God that he was called to share this message with us and we look forward to hearing from him again.
In the evening at Sibsey our Pastor continued our Harvest Thanksgiving when he spoke of how the story of Jeremiah's purchase of a field from Hanamel was a message of hope and encouragement. Just as Jeremiah's purchase was a positive statement of investment in the future, so our planting of churches in East Lincolnshire was a sowing of seeds of faith for future harvesting.
