Fellowship Lunch in Skegness
At our Sunday morning meeting in the County Hotel, Skegness, on Sunday August 30, 2009 we celebrated the Summer Holidays with a family orientated meeting based on the theme 'Seaside Rock'. The reason for the theme was twofold; firstly, we are worshipping at the seaside, and if anyone was in any doubt they simply had to look out of the windows of our first floor venue; and secondly, one of the favourite attractions of many seaside holiday towns is rock and the word rock is so often used to describe our God. The Psalmist calls God the Rock of our Salvation and Jesus commissioned his disciple Peter to be the Rock on which the Christian Church is built. Using verses from the Psalm and from the discipleship of Peter we developed the theme of Seaside Rock into the Rock of our Salvation.
Everyone present received a stick of rock from our Pastor and one lucky family received a family sized rock.
Following on from our meeting we shared a fellowship Lunch at the home of Sandra and Pete Newsome. Many thanks to them for their excellent hospitality and the food. I think they took our previous theme too much to heart as they seemed to think they were feeding the 5.000. The weather was brilliant which helped everyone to enjoy a really great day.
