LENT & EASTER SERVICES

During Lent Ian has been making up a series of miniature gardens to depict the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus and we have been putting them on display during our services.

On Palm Sunday we held another Family Service and decorated the hall with Palms. The service included the blessing of the Palm crosses. Once again the ‘donkey’ was on duty.

On Good Friday we held a service of music and meditation at 2 p.m. when we considered Jesus’ Passion.

Easter Day 2009 heralded our first morning service as well as an evening meeting. At 10.30 a.m. we celebrated the resurrection with the Lord’s Supper and a Family Service. Then at 6 p.m. we met again to continue our exploration of the theme ‘Covenant Fulfilled’ as we unpacked the Christian Hope of eternal life. Everyone attending the service was invited to place a daffodil on the cross from Good Friday. Those present also brought the stones that had been distributed on the first Sunday in Lent, which were now painted in bright colours with various images.

The Easter visual aids were moved to the manse so that they could continue to be enjoyed by passers-by as the Easter season continues.
