Nativity and Christingle 2010
The scene is set for the Nativity.
Christian love has been at the centre of our work here in Skegness since we began meeting here in the summer of 2009, and this is evidenced by the way in which so many visitors have gone away sensing that love. Indeed one of our regular worshippers said recently at the end of a Sunday meeting, "I wonder if the people who use this room during the rest of the week can feel the love which we leave here". I'm sure they do.
The Buffet Table is prepared
Certainly there was no shortage of genuine Christian love as, on December 15th, 2010, we played host to 14 children and their helpers who were staying in Skegness at the Derbyshire Children' Holiday Centre.
Work starts preparing the Christingles before the young people arrive
During the summer the Centre provides a holiday at the seaside for underprivileged children from Derbyshire and then each year at Christmas invites the most deserving for a special Christmas holiday. This year many were from the Ilkeston area.
Thanks to the generosity of our people in Skegness and in King's Lynn, we were able to invite the young people and their helpers to share our fellowship Christmas buffet lunch (prepared by our ladies) and to join in with an interactive nativity and Christingle carol service. All this took place in the County Hotel thanks to the support of our members and of Ross Muirhead, the General Manager of the County Hotel.

Working Guide Dog, Ada, wants to share the Buffet
All the children took part in the nativity as did two of the working guide dogs who are now a regular feature of our Sunday meetings - Sweep and Ada took the role of sheep!

Following on from the Nativity the chilldren gathered with their Christingles and everyone joined in with singing Away in a Manger
At the end of the 'party' Ross dressed up in his Santa outfit and presented each child with a Lion Graphic Bible, a present from our church, which we pray will help the young people come to know Jesus.
