Our Beginnings
With the oversight and support of the Reffley Community Church of the Nazarene, Kings Lynn, we made a decision in October 2008 that we would step out in faith and start our first church plant with a Sunday evening meeting at 6 p.m. in the Village Hall at Sibsey, near Boston. The initial nucleus of our group was the Rev'd Ian Banks and his wife Diane with the support of Keith and Kate Beaumont who lived in Sibsey.
New Life Music Group ‘Reborn’
We were delighted that for our first meeting a group of musicians from the New Life Christian Ministries in Sleaford came along to provide 'live' music. We had no idea what to expect on that first evening, but God put a big 'rubber stamp' of approval on the event as 33 people attended. We were supported by folk from King's Lynn, Skegness and Boston as well as the village.
Our initial plan was to run for six weeks in order to test God's call for a church plant in East Lincolnshire. The response was so encouraging that we made a commitment to continue through November and December and into the New Year, 2009.
On Trinity Sunday, June 7th 2009, as we celebrated our 34th week in Sibsey, we held our inaugural meeting in Skegness. [Skegness launch] Between the two meetings we have established a group of over 50 people who at some stage attended our meetings, from which has emerged a regular core congregation of some twenty five people; sixteen of whom have now committed to membership of the Church. Towards the end of 2009 it was decided to concentrate our time and resources in Skegness and although we have ceased to meet in Sibsey on a regular basis we still maintain fellowship with people in the Boston area.
All of us involved with the Church of the Nazarene in East Lincolnshire are looking forward to sharing more and more together as we move forward in faith. We ask for your prayers that God continues to bless this project and all who are supporting it with their prayers and the generous giving of their time, talents and money.
